Are laser pointers good toys for cats?

They can prompt movement, but a cat can become frustrated because there is nothing physical to catch. If you use one, keep the light away from eyes and finish by directing the cat to a real toy or food reward they can capture.

A good next step

  • Use only brief sessions.
  • Never shine a laser at any person or animal’s eyes.
  • Choose wand toys when your cat becomes fixated or frustrated.
