Play & home life

How long should I play with my cat each day?

Several short play sessions are usually more cat-friendly than one long session. Follow your cat’s interest and fitness, use toys that allow stalking, chasing and pouncing, and let the cat “catch” the toy before finishing.

A good next step

  • Five to fifteen minutes can be enough for one energetic session.
  • Never use hands or feet as prey.
  • Reduce intensity for kittens, seniors and cats with health limitations.

Know when to stop searching

Some questions need a vet, not a webpage.

Seek urgent veterinary help for breathing difficulty, collapse, seizures, severe pain, major trauma, suspected poisoning, heatstroke, or repeated straining without passing urine.

If you are unsure, call your regular vet or nearest emergency veterinary clinic for triage.
