Why does my cat seem to drink very little water?

Cats eating wet food may drink less because their meals contain water. Encourage drinking with several fresh water stations, wide bowls placed away from food and litter, or a fountain if your cat prefers moving water.

  • Refresh bowls daily and wash them regularly.
  • Watch for a sudden change in thirst or urination.
  • Contact a vet promptly if your cat seems dehydrated, weak or unwell.
